Best with no fuel?

Today because of meetings that lasted all morning I did not get to follow my normal routine which includes eating my packed lunch at around 10:45 am, giving myself a bit of a time for my food to digest by my noon workout.  I got out of the meeting a few minutes before 12 so I headed straight to the gym, sans food.

I sort of expected to not feel that great due to the lack of lunch and the lingering side effects of our Super Bowl party which included lots of food and alcohol.  I was very surprised I actually felt strong, stronger than in quite awhile.  I 1RM’d at fake 275 pounds (245 actual) and it went surprisingly well without any pause or crazy struggle.  I was quite surprised and wondered if our heavy negatives we have done the last few weeks are starting to pay dividends.  After the 1RM I stripped the 25 pound plate and slid a third 45 pounder on each side and did two more slow and controlled negatives with just enough help to get it back up.

Smith bench press – 105lbs x 12, 155lbs x 8, 195lbs x 3, 215lbs x 1, 235lbs x 1, 245lbs x 1, 285 negative x 1, 285 negative x 1, 195lbs x 7, 195lbs x 6, 155lbs x 12

Pec dec – 100lbs x 10, 120lbs x 1, 130lbs x 10
